AUNTIE YONNY: EPISODE 66

OPPOSITES AND OPPOSITION

Then was the Earth covered in darkness and in need of light. -Not only the Sun and the reflection of the Moon, but, the Light of God that could shine through the spiritual darkness covering the Earth. God made man in His image to shine His Light upon the Earth and cast out the darkness of the enemy.

Within God's Universe there is always an opposite, or, more importantly, an answer--a ying and a yang, a pro and a con--choices of light or dark. The Universe operates freely but within standards that (like God has given to man),  allows it to take different courses based upon the choices and standards set by God.

When man goes outside of God's Standards it is sinning. What causes this? We know that there are temptations, but, what causes temptation? What happens to our mind and our spirit to be tempted? Who and what are the tempters? Can we narrow it down to a specific thing or entity?

Why does God allow temptation? How do Satan and the other Fallen Angels who have become demonic tempt us? If sin is a spiritual illness, can we fight it without healing the spirit or casting out the spirit that causes it? How does dying to self and the flesh daily and abiding in Christ protect us from sin? If the flesh is weak, how do we protect ourselves? How do we resist Satan and evil?

James 4: 1-7 (KJV)

4 From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?

2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.

3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

5 Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?

6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

The majority of people in the world are unaware of being a spiritual being and do not function as spiritual beings. Satan has free reign to use them as he pleases knowing they lack knowledge and they are unequipped to resist or protect themselves. Even in this day and age where knowledge is accessible by many means, people reject truth because of pride. Often, pride in our traditions, doctrine, and culture keep us in the dark. So, we remain unaware of who and what we are, unable to live in the fullness and glory of being Children of God.

So, sin remains prevalent and malignant infecting man like an unstoppable plague. During the Covid-19 Pandemic, we see the ignorance and blindness of those rejecting masks, social distancing guidelines, and rejecting receiving the Covid-19 vaccine because of their pride which tells them that they are entitled, privileged, and superior. Their prideful mind helps the adversary by accepting the lies that are fed to them and rejected the truth. Pride tells these people believe that they must have control over their lives and therefore they rebel against government authority. They have taken on a rebellious spirit which controls them. Yet, they believe that they are in complete control and inflicting harm upon their opponents and enemies.

With every plague or pandemic there is an underlying spiritual plague and pandemic that must be cleansed from within the people, even if that means there must be death for those who have not rebelled. We may not understand why God allows this. God's thoughts are not like our thoughts. His ways are not like our ways. Yet, we must remember that He alone can see what lies ahead. Furthermore, we must remember that this world is not our home. Certainly, God bases His decisions upon this fact.

Unable to grasp the concept and promise of eternal life, many of us continue to see death as finite. We speak of a deceased person as being no longer with us. However, we never stop to think that it might be us who is no longer with them. For, if indeed, they have been given eternal life and we have not been granted this, then, it is we who are no longer present and with them. We are dead; for without having been reborn in the Spirit, we are the walking dead who shall perish. Those who have been born again are waiting for their change to come.

Hal's mourning for his father can be expected. However, if Hal has been sowing the seed of holiness and righteousness, if Hal has been walking by faith and not by sight, if Hal believes in God's promises and unconditional love, then, He would realize that weeping endures for a night, but, joy comes in the morning. Hal would know that his father, a godly man, is not dead. He is alive in spirit and alive with God in his Heavenly Home.

The world has trained us to think in different terms of dying and death. Convincing us that what we cannot see, does not exist any longer. The world would have us believe that having spiritual eyes is for the spiritually minded and only leads to esoteric philosophical debates. So, what is it that Hal should be doing, but, grieving for his loss?

After the death of a friend, I have contemplated my own death. -And, as I was doing so, I heard God ask me, "Are you ready?" It was a question I had often asked myself and on different days, I seemed to have different answers. -But, I knew that God wanted a specific answer. Wanting to please Him, I mulled over the question, then, debated and rationalized in my mind, whether or not I was ready and prepared for when it became my time to leave this Earth, when God would call me home. I told God, "Yes, I'm ready." I justified my answer with what I had done to prepare and what I was willing to do, so on and so on. I based everything upon what I had accomplished or resolved within me. It took some time before I realized that being ready or prepared for death was not about ME. It was about God and what God had done. It was about God's plan for my life.

If it was all about us, then, death would never be unexpected. We could all feel perfectly ready to die, not because of suicide, violence, pain, or heartache, but, because of self-determination. Yet, that isn't so. If we are to be ready for God's promise of eternal life before and after death, we must have a relationship with our Heavenly Father and allow Him to prepare us for our next home. He knows what we are in need of. He knows how to remake us into who we should be. By His hand, because of His sacrificing His Son, we can become like Him. So, once again, we must put fear aside and surrender our will, if we are to have peace and everlasting life. We must let God work within us a wondrous work to prepare us for His Kingdom. This begins with our Rebirth and Equipping the Saints. So, what must Hal do? He must SURRENDER to God. God will take away his guilt and shame and prepare him to conquer this world.

Darla found Rachel rocking David and quietly humming. She hesitated to approach her, not wanting to disturb the peace that was upon her face, but, she knew that Rachel would want to know that Hal had returned and was safe. She whispered to Rachel to keep from waking the baby. A sigh of relief came over Rachel and she quietly thanked Darla for letting her know Hal was outside of the nursery.

Gingerly walking to the front of the nursery, Rachel was so relieved to see Hal that tears began to well up in her eyes. She took David's tiny hand to make it wave at Hal. Hal waved back, blew a kiss, then made a Z with his finger and pointed down the hall. Nodding her head, Rachel seemed to understand that he was going to go down the hall to see Zenobia.

Wanting to protect Zenobia from Hal, Nigel and Wendell decided to go to her room to be a buffer. Wendell wanted Hal to know that he was serious about his intentions toward Zenobia. Upon entering the room, they were relieved not to find Hal. Zenobia appeared to be resting. So, they both pulled up chairs and sat opposite one another next to her bed. Then, they heard a weak and raspy voice try to speak. They both rose out of their seat to get closer to Zenobia to hear what she was trying to say.

"You did that for me, Wendell. You did that for me."

Somewhat perplexed, Nigel and Wendell looked at one another questioningly. What was Zenobia talking about? Then, thinking of the scuffle and the killing that took place earlier, Wendell, slowly sat back down and hung his head. Could Zenobia possibly know how he was feeling inside?

"I'm ashamed of what I did." He said aloud.

Zenobia continued, "There's no need for you to be ashamed, Wendell. You did as David did. David stood in the midst of the ground, and defended it, and slew the Philistines: and the Lord wrought a great victory. Like David, you were fighting for holiness and righteousness. The Lord was with you."

"But...but...you heard me..."

"I'm a nurse, Wendell. I've seen and heard many things. I've seen death many times, watching it come quickly and sometimes slowly. Each time the results were the same and no less devastating. You did what you had to do to protect me and I am eternally grateful. Thank you."

"You're more than welcome Zenobia. It...it hurts me to say that I...I...I would do it again to protect you, Zenobia, but, I would, because...because, I love you, Zenobia."

Zenobia squeezed Wendell's hand the best that she could to show how deeply touched she was by his words.

"Zenobia...Zenobia, it hurts me so much to see you lying there like this. I wish I could protect you from all of the bad guys and sad times and nothing would ever hurt you again."

"Wendell, I have come to understand, by walking by faith and trusting God, that even the sad times don't bring sadness, but, victory. God has brought you to me, not to take away all the sadness, but, to help me to live again and to live in victory.

Leaving Rachel to take care of their son, Hal reached Zenobia's room. He knocked on the door, just in case the doctor or nurse were inside. When someone answered and said come in, Hal found Nigel and Wendell by Zenobia's bedside.

"Oh, excuse me, I didn't know you were here. I can come back at another time."

"No, Hal, Wendell and I can leave and let you talk to Zenobia for a little while. She's awake now, but, very weak."

In disbelief of Nigel's sudden kindness and courtesy toward Hal, Wendell gave Nigel the evil eye, as if to say, I'm not going anywhere, especially if he's around. Nigel returned the gesture and went to pull Wendell out of his seat. Reluctantly, Wendell backed out of the room, only to stop and peek in the window of the door to make sure Hal wasn't making any untoward and unwanted advances toward Zenobia, whom he considered to be his girlfriend.

Hal sat down in the chair previously occupied by Wendell. Nervous about saying anything to Zenobia, he sat for a minute in silence. Zenobia broke the ice by attempting to laugh, which resulted in some sputtering from her mouth. Hal moved quickly to find tissue to wipe her mouth. Touching her again and seeing her suffer in the horrible, shattered state her body was in was too much for him.

Zenobia tried to speak.

"Our...ourrrr ba-by..."

Seeing that Zenobia was having a hard time trying to form words and breathe, Hal took over the conversation.

"Yes...I...uh saw our baby in the nursery. She's beautiful, but, she's so tiny. Darla is taking care of her. I was shocked to see Darla in the nursery. I never figured her for the motherly type, but, she's already attached to...uh...our baby and seems to enjoy taking care of her."

Zenobia raised a finger, wanting to say something, then, began clenching the sheets on the bed. Hal looked at the expression on her face. Fear and agony distorted her face, a clear sign that she was in severe pain.

"Zenobia, what's wrong!" Hal knew she couldn't answer, but, terror had gripped his mind and for a moment paralyzed him. He grabbed the cord to press the emergency button for the nurse. Wendell was the first to burst through the door, shoving Hal aside, followed by Nigel. Nigel gave Hal a look of disgust.

"I...I...she...she just...she just started..."

Wendell was busy checking Zenobia's air passageways and vital signs. He was too busy to pay any attention to Hal. Hal looked pleadingly at Nigel wanting to explain what happened, but, couldn't find the words.

"Just leave, Hal, get out!" Trying to deal with Hal was too much for Nigel to handle at that moment. Fear made him lash out and Hal was the closest and most satisfying target at hand.

Two nurses hurried into the room, rushing to Zenobia's bedside, followed by two technicians with machines and a doctor.

Seeing that he was in the way, Hal left the room and waited outside. The attending doctor had just come on his shift. He froze when he saw Wendell administering care to Zenobia.

"What are you doing?"

"I'm Dr. Baptiste, I've asked to be assigned to the patient's case. I have permission from the hospital's Chief of Staff and the Director."

Somewhat irritated, the doctor introduced himself and began reading Zenobia's medical chart.

"I'm Dr. Everett, filling in for Dr. Acharya today. How can I assist you?"

Wendell began updating Dr. Everett on Zenobia's condition and recent crisis. Dr. Everett began ordering test and the nurses and technicians set to work.

As Hal stood outside, no one paid him any attention. They were all too busy trying to stabilize Zenobia. Hal wanted to know what happened and if she would be okay. Although, they were no longer together as a couple, he couldn't bare the thought of losing her and his father and what would his daughter do without her mother?
